Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work with some of the most resilient, creative, funny and smart young people I've known. They inspire me everyday.
My urban, English learning, mostly low income students face many challenges but surprise me every day with their commitment to improving themselves and their community.
We live in a gang impacted community who is also facing displacement by gentrification and rising rents. 80% of our student body qualifies for free or reduced rate lunch and almost a third of them have special needs. This doesn't stop them from trying their hardest.
My Project
Many of my students need a snack in the middle of the day and most of them do not have the money to buy them. Let's make their day with a yummy treat!
Help my students have happy tummies so they may have happy minds!
The snacks will be used as rewards, community building activities and in our sharing circles.
We do not have a school budget to provide additional nutrition for our students. Thank you for looking at our students in a wholistic manner! my advisory students and my classes will be sharing all of these snacks. Let's take care of the whole person...
