My Project

A planer helps students mill rough wood to a consistent, smooth thickness, turning raw or reclaimed lumber into beautiful, usable material.

With this tool, students will:

Prepare wood blanks for turning on the lathe

Flatten and finish their project boards

Understand material prep as part of the engineering and design process

Use reclaimed wood, teaching sustainability and resourcefulness

From small business simulations to personalized gifts and engineering builds, the planer is the missing link to elevate our work from rough to refined.

Students will experience the full workflow of transforming raw wood into high-quality components. The DeWalt Planer will allow us to:

Save money by reusing off-cuts and rough lumber

Teach proper wood preparation techniques

Create safer, more precise parts for projects

Foster pride in craftsmanship and finished quality

Most importantly, it gives students the tools professionals use, opening their eyes to possible futures in trades, design, or engineering.
