Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Imagine returning to class after visiting the dentist and sharing your "new" teeth. Several of my students happily and excitedly show-off their "silver" teeth and the number of cavities they have.

My students reside and attend school in a high poverty area.

The vast majority of my students qualify for and receive free breakfast and lunch. Several of my students also participate in the school's after school program where they receive an additional snack. My Transitional Kindergarten students enjoy talking, smiling, singing, dancing and playing with friends.

My Project

I will use the Learn to Brush Demonstration Kit to show my Transitional Kindergarten students how to properly care for their primary teeth. Each day after lunch my students will have the opportunity to properly brush their teeth. The photo cards, puppet and music will help to engage my young learners in discussions about oral health.

Donations to this project will help my students build a foundation for good dental habits that will last a lifetime.

As they grow older my students will have confidence in their smiles.
