This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach in the inner city and serve students who face difficulties their peers do not have to face on an everyday basis. My students, by no fault of their own, lack the basic tools to be successful each day at school. For any student to be successful, the student needs content knowledge, motivation, and mental and emotional support. These are my goals every day and the reason I changed careers to become a teacher within the inner city. Before addressing these goals, my students have needs that must be met first. I was completely unaware of your organization until last week. I have used my funds to try to meet my student's needs for the last 5 years I have been teaching. However, I need help. All the items I am requesting will be used and benefit my students immediately. I've run out of pencils, markers, tissues, snacks, etc. I've improvised with using household items as dry-erase boards. My focus is on educating and motivating my students every day to be better citizens and to strive to do whatever they want in life but to do it with kindness and determination. In my brief time teaching, I have had some great successes thus far and am so excited for the future to impact more students. I am excited for tomorrow! I love empowering my students every day. Students in the inner city do not take attention, care, and support for granted, nor do they expect it. However, when they receive it consistently and trust in you, there is no better feeling in the world. I am blessed to be their teacher. If you can help, that would be incredible.
