My Students
The United States has been called, "The Land of Opportunity." Most citizens can describe the traditional "American Dream" as the right and ability to carve out any life you choose. Unfortunately, for children, not all opportunities are equal.
My students are the picture of America.
They come from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds and vastly varied, socioeconomic lifestyles. Each child comes with their own life experiences, strengths, and weaknesses. They all want to feel safe and successful, and every one of them brings the need and desire to be loved.
My students are curious, humorous, and zealous. They enjoy learning with their eyes, ears, and hands. As a classroom family, students work together, learn from each other, and strive for personal goals of personal best.
My Project
Each year, my students are invited to study books that empower them to manage stress, establish and maintain positive relationships, and build their own character. This project will expand their reading options by adding Kirt Manecke's Smile & Succeed for Teens: A Crash Course in Face-to-Face Communication to the personal growth library.
21st Century Citizens, those wonderful people currently occupying today's classrooms, must be able to communicate and collaborate in nearly every area of life.
As a matter of fact, communication and collaboration are half the of four 21st Century skills referred to as "The Four Cs." Offering my students a resource that will instruct and encourage them to build their people skills will make for strong children, and ultimately, stronger world leaders.
