This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is a middle school ranging from grades six to eight, located in West Harlem, with many of our students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. The students come from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and many of the students are English Language Learners.
My students are intelligent, hard-working and compassionate.
They enjoy hands-on learning experiences, opportunities to be creative and taking on academic challenges. As their speech teacher, I want to be able to provide them with everything they need in order to be successful learners.
My Project
As a speech teacher, I am constantly on the move. Sometimes, I see students in their classroom. Other times, I am working with students outside of the classroom. Either way, something that we don't have readily available in these moments is the use of a projection screen or Smartboard. There are many times where I would like to model a skill for multiple students at once in a small group, but they can't see what I'm doing.
With a portable projector, we can change this.
This projector that I am requesting has capabilities to connect with my iPad, so that whatever I am showing or modeling using the iPad can be projected larger for a group to see, like a Smartboard to go! Also, the portable factor helps me achieve this goal wherever I happen to be working with students!
