Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach Kindergarten at a school where the majority of my students come from low income families and English is not their first language. Some live in homeless shelters, temporary housing, have parents who are incarcerated, and are performing below grade-level. The majority have limited access to educational materials and limited opportunities for engaging in hands-on learning. My Kinder students don't let that keep them from being active and engaged participants in all aspects of their learning.
I try to foster a safe space for students to explore, observe, inquire and tap into their natural and instinctive curiosity.
My school and I also provide an environment that promotes life-long success for our students, their families, and the community.
My Project
Help modernize our classroom with the latest technology. Currently, my students have an old projector that is on its last days. This projector turns off every 15 minutes due to overheating. Enhanced technology is always a motivator for my students. This smart TV can be used for students to view online educational videos and project work from the document camera in a large format. Students will be able to view lessons and use computer applications such as NearPod in a much easier fashion. Having access to a smart TV will facilitate the integration of technology into student learning and exploration. A smart TV will give my students infinite opportunities to explore, create, imagine, and learn.
Having a smart TV will allow me to use educational videos and apps to promote interactive learning at a safe distance.
A smart TV will allow me to safely share visual materials with my students, while keeping them safely distanced in the classroom, which is extremely important. This kind of technology will keep students motivated and interested in learning now that they are back in the classroom, which is absolutely critical after over a year of distance learning due to COVID.
