My Project
In my Washington, DC preschool special education classroom, my 3-5 year old students with autism are curious, creative, and full of potential. They each have unique needs and learning styles that require tailored support and innovative teaching strategies. From speech and language delays to sensory processing challenges, my students work hard every day to overcome obstacles and develop critical foundational skills. They thrive on hands-on learning, interactive tools, and technology that empowers them to engage with the world in meaningful ways.
iPads offer a world of possibilities for students with special needs.
With the right apps and tools, iPads can provide visual and auditory support, enhance fine motor skills, and create personalized learning experiences. For students who struggle with verbal communication, iPads can serve as a voice, enabling them to express their needs, wants, and thoughts. For those working on academic skills, interactive apps can make learning letters, numbers, and shapes engaging and accessible. Sensory-friendly games can provide calming outlets for students who need breaks during the day. This project requests an additional iPad to accommodate growing enrollment in our classroom as well as headphones, adapters, and cleaning wipes for our other generously donated DonorsChoose iPads.
iPads are a game-changer for my students. They will provide individualized learning opportunities, foster independence, and help my students build confidence in their abilities. Technology has the power to remove barriers and open doors, and I am committed to giving my students the tools they need to succeed. Your support will help ensure my preschoolers can access the tools they need to explore, learn, and grow.
