If you love shopping and finding a great deal, this project has your name written all over it. The class that will be using the calculators is a special education inclusion class. This is a group of great kids that work exceptionally hard. However, these kids have difhttps://adminsecure.donorschoose.org/scripts/awmdata/dot.gifficulty with math computation.
In the past few weeks our class has studied fractions, decimals, and percents. When working through the material, the kids realized that they needed to know these math concepts in order to be a "good shopper" and make the most of their money. However, their difficulty with math computation held them back from finding the best deal.
I need five basic scientific calculators for the students to use in cooperative learning groups. Each group of students will work together to comb sales papers from local businesses to find great deals. The students will find discounts, compute sales tax, and find percentages of discounts. The specific calculators that I have requested allow students to see entire equations, find mistakes, and see previous answers to compare prices.
Your small gift will empower almost 20 children to develop "smart shopper" techniques. The skills learned will be used each time the children go to a store for as long as they live. These students will be able to save money on purchases which will benefit them more then they understand. Please consider donating a few dollars to take care of this need.
