This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Have you ever tried to turn your computer on and all you see is a dead screen? That is what happens in our classroom more then I care to mention. We have replaced the drives and screens but little hands can be tuff on old technology.
I have a class of young vibrant english learners.
We are a primary center so we only have two grades pre-school and Kindergarten. I think that this environment makes us special in that we truly cater to early education. There are only 16 teachers on staff and we are a closely knit staff.
My Project
The tablets will help the students log on and use the web-based phonics sites that we use in school. They help our students learn the sounds and engage them in learning thru different modalities. They are able to create and learn sounds and letters and engage in learning games. They will also be able to have books read to them using live books. By having the tablets we will be able to have a live library where they will be able to listen to books that they normally might not have access to at home. The tablets will allow our students to become more engaged learners.
Due to socio-economic circumstances this is the only opportunity that some of my students will ever have to being able to interact with a tablet and find the educational value that it can provide through individualized learning.
