My Project
I teach in a school district where our families come from a wide range of economic backgrounds. District-wide, all of our students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. While many of my students have all they need, as a district, many of our students come to school without basic supplies, and our classrooms lack many standard resources due to lack of district funding.
My students are eager to learn and I am always looking for creative and challenging ways to engage them in higher-ordered problem solving and critical thinking!
Games and puzzles can do this! Research shows that strategic thinking in games can support the development of higher-order thinking skills—like problem solving, decision making, critical thinking, planning, and even creative thinking. Playing games where you have to plan ahead for yourself and your opponents also help improve general cognitive ability and scholastic achievement—especially in mathematics. Please consider giving to my classroom and students through this project.
