My elementary school students rotate through different classrooms throughout the day for more focused teaching from four teachers. These 80 students are 80% English language learners and come from a high poverty community. Because of the students' English levels, the use of visual aids and learning through different modalities is even more necessary. We share our school site with community organizations that utilize our classrooms for child care programs and after school programs.
Recently, we received SMART boards (electronic touch screen white boards) in these classrooms to give students more opportunities to utilize interactive technology in their learning and to update some of our teaching methods. However, our computers are outdated and do not have the necessary speed and memory to allow us to effectively use the SMART board and its available learning resources.
I am requesting your help to obtain an Hewlett Packard EliteBook laptop with additional memory in order to maximize the learning opportunities of the SMART board. The laptop will enable students to access the programs and interactive lessons, and allow for mobility into other classrooms to provide students addition after school help and support when our classrooms are being used by other programs.
You're generosity and support will enable our students to increase their use of technology through interactive learning and through the creation of their own interactive presentations and lessons. Thank you for making this possible.
