My Project

My Autism students don't eat lunch until 1:30 pm, so they are very hungry early in the school day! Three days each week, 20-30 third grade students stay in my classroom until 5:00pm pm for tutoring. An after school snack like a granola bar, fruit snacks, or goldfish crackers gives them fuel for those extra hours of hard work and helps them stay focused on their learning.

I prepare and purchase as much as I can, but the cost of doing so adds up fast - especially on a teacher's salary.

Some of these snacks will also be used for the occasional school-day emergency, like when a student arrives late and has missed breakfast and/or lunch.

Finally, I have requested a few special treats like fruit roll us and gushers to use as prizes during our favorite learning games (like BINGO, Kahoot, or Jeopardy) and a big rolling cart to keep all the snacks organized in the classroom.
