Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Middle school can be one of the most difficult times for a student. A student at this academic level is expected to develop and mature socially as well as academically. This expectation can be especially difficult when a child is struggling greatly with basic reading and computation skills.
My students are middle school students with learning and physical disabilities.
Despite their disabilities they love to learn and explore new things. In addition to exploring the unknown they also strive to be leaders in their school community by helping younger students off the school bus, creating cards for the elderly, or helping other students carry their lunch trays at lunch time.
My Project
In my classroom a portable smart board will allow my students to access the curriculum in ways that will greatly benefit their academic progress. A portable smart board will allow my lessons to be visually stimulating, interactive, and engaging so that my students can be able to acquire the reading and mathematical knowledge needed to succeed. In addition, my students will be able to access the endless educational resources available online together as a class portable smart board will also allow me to make my flexible groups more interactive. I would be able to present my mini group lessons to them where ever we are stationed and incorporate videos, games, and pictures that will support the learning of new material.
Through learning technology such as this my students can be better prepared to be able to perform on grade level.
It will allow my students to see what technology can really do for them and how it can support them and their future. With your support I would be able to further remove barriers to their learning and help in supporting their academic growth.
