I believe that all students can, and should be, engaged in classroom instruction. I like to get students up and moving and make sure their brains are turned on and ready to learn. Falling asleep at your desk is simply not an option in my classroom. In my classroom, we have fun while we're learning!
My 5th graders are an exceptionally bright bunch who love learning and are engaged and ready to move on rapidly!
My school is very encouraging and the 5th grade students often team up with 1st grade students in the school as reading buddies. All of the teachers work together and collaborate extensively in teams to bring our students the best, most challenging lessons available.
My students are also confronted with very large class sizes. Our fifth grade class has 35 students currently. This can present some very unique challenges in regards to teaching and learning. The students are very flexible and have worked very hard to overcome these learning challenges.
The teachers in my school are very creative and work together with aides to find ways to work around our large class sizes and provide instruction to students in smaller groups. The students are able to meet with adults for reading and math support throughout the day. They love being able to work in small groups!
My Project
These resources will change instruction in my room for years to come! This SMART board will last for many years and will not need replacing within the immediate future. These resources will support the students in learning with such large class sizes and it will aide in the delivery of lessons by the teacher and in presentations by students.
The SMART board will create engaging methods of lesson delivery that allow students to get up out of their seats and interact with the lesson. This will also allow students to present their PowerPoint presentations and speeches in new, exciting ways where they can manipulate the objects on the board.
Along with new options for interacting with lessons, the SMART board will present options for taking attendance and managing classroom behavior that a basic whiteboard simply does not allow. The options for use with this technology are abundant and will make a world of difference in today's classroom!
By donating to my classroom, you will improve student learning, student behavior and student engagement.
When students are bored and lack engagement, they tune out. This can be prevented by employing new, creative ways of lesson delivery. Having a SMART board in my classroom will allow me to make this a reality for all of my students this year and many years from now!
The students in my classroom will have experience with technology that is relevant for today's graduates!
