Help me give my students an interactive smart board to revolutionize engagement and meet different learning styles in our classroom. This board will enhance our core curriculum making our lessons come alive.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in a very small town with a population of approximately 2,000 people. We are nestled in the Rocky Mountains and enjoy beautiful views and are surrounded by wildlife. We are hours away from big city life and enjoy life in a simple way.
My students love a challenge, setting goals, and learning how to work together to achieve them.
The students I work with are talented, hardworking, team players, and love learning. I work with a variety of students, including high needs, autistic students learning how to be in the general education setting and students who are gifted in regards to academics. I have students from many socio-economic backgrounds and coming from homes with different family situations.
This range of diverse students and personalities makes our learning environment a great place to grow from one another's experiences and the students all have different experiences they bring to our classroom. My students are incredible at whatever they set their minds to and surprise me everyday with how much they accomplish.
My Project
We are requesting interactive smart board to revolutionize engagement and meet different learning styles in our classroom. This board will enhance our core curriculum making our lessons come alive. The whiteboard is the focal point of our classroom. It is where students gather and where we are constantly writing and erasing with our dry erase markers. Day in and day out we are always using our whiteboards to help with our learning. It is something that is mundane and does not offer many opportunities for differentiation or engagement but all in all it gets the job done.
If our class had a smart board it would aide in bringing more collaboration and cooperation in our classroom through the delivering of interactive lessons, studies show that students learn best when they are interacting.
Teachers are able to find lessons that are more engaging, and allow the students through the touchscreen display and interactive nature of the activities to become more active participants in the lessons.
This piece of technology would help improve in all subjects along with brain breaks which are very important at this stage and age of brain development of young ones. Another very important reason that I strongly believe that my 1st-grade students would benefit from this is the opportunity to differentiate for all the levels of learners in my classroom and for classrooms to come. Students find interactions and technology to be fun and my goal as a teacher is always to make learning and achieving and fun and enjoyable as possible so that students retain as much as possible in a positive manner.
Many special education classes are using smartboards due to the increase in student motivation and how it helps to meet many different learning styles. I would love to incorporate one to my classroom and help meet not just my students under the special education umbrella but every type of learner that needs motivation and make learning fun!
