Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom has a printer for my students to use, but no ink! They have essays to print and projects to work on, but they can't print because we don't have money for ink. I was lucky enough to have an Epson printer donated through Donorschoose, and I hope to get it working once again.

My students are 11th and 12th graders at an urban school.

Our school is a Title 1 school in which 100% of students receive free lunch. My students are motivated, hard working and have goals of attending college. They want to become doctors, lawyers, teachers, and many other things. Many of them don't have computers or printers at home, so I allow them to print their work in my classroom.

My Project

Having a working printer will make a big difference in my classroom. Right now, unfortunately, the printer in my classroom sits hooked up to a computer, but unused because of a lack of ink. If we get this project fulfilled, students will be able to work independently, print their work, and get it in on time. They will be able to print color documents for projects, and create projects that are entertaining, eye catching, but most importantly, educational. Typing and printing their assignments helps them prepare for college because college professors don't take handwritten essays. This is a skill they need to become college ready, and many of my students don't realize how important it is to correctly type, format, print, and turn in assignments on time.

Donations to this project will make a big difference to my students and classroom.

We will make immediate use of the ink. I do believe that this ink will help my students understand the expectations that college professors have for their students, and will create more of a college atmosphere in my classroom. Thank you for your support.
