This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The best and easiest way to describe my students is that they are survivors. My class is a bilingual, prekindergarten classroom. I am charged with teaching them Spanish and all other subjects. I have a class of highly motivated and fully charged four-year-olds.

My children and their families were hit hard by Hurricane Harvey.

Many of my families had to be evacuated and our school sustained a lot of damage. We taught half of the last school year at relocation site.

We do not want to burden our parents for any type of extra supply after what they went through. We are happy to be back at our school, but we need some materials to replace what we lost during the hurricane. We hope these items would help our new students adjust to the huge changes in their little lives.

My Project

My students are very energetic and love music so why not combine those two elements and make a workstation out of it. If funded, my students would not only be able to listen to music and stories but they would also be free to move around the room. I would be able to place the workstation anywhere in the room. And since the headphones are wireless I would not have to worry about the kids getting tangled up or pulling the wire out and making the headphones unusable. We are requesting 3 iPod touches, screen protectors, cases and wireless headphones for each iPod.

My students will be able to enjoy their story or song anywhere in the room with wireless headphones and a sturdy case for their iPod touch.

My class enjoys music and they are so happy when I turn on the CD player so adding these resources will enhance their workstation experience.
