This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students have a fantastic growth mindset. I have taught them the importance to fail forward, as we strive to learn and grow. My class came in extremely low in math with many deficits. They have had to hurdle some major obstacles in their education including COVID, at home learning, extreme behavior problems, and inexperienced teachers. Together we have made it our goal, through Guided Math, a hands-on, small group, learning opportunity to GROW!

My Project

My students work collaboratively as a class family, teaming to ensure we learn and grow together as a class. In their small collaborative hands-on math groups, they are leaders working together, helping one another to fail forward, and most importantly they have developed a love for math. I implemented this program 4 years ago, for most, this is there favorite time of the day, Yes, math. My students ask to stay in 4th grade to continue their experience with Guided Math, this is more than a teacher could ask for as they truly LOVE math!
