My Students

Our students are AWESOME! They are unique, creative, and talented. They come from all walks of life. We have a wonderful school and are surrounded by supportive parents and family members.

A large percentage of our students do not have access to technology and internet services at home.

For these students, technology skills must be taught in the school environment. For some of these students the only interaction they have with computers is while they are at school. For the students that do have access to technology at home they can be great helpers to the students that do not have that privilege.

We are a school that is dedicated to creating 21st century learners. We can only do this if we have updated materials and resources. We need to provide students with the best opportunities possible to learn how to use technology effectively and responsibly.

My Project

Our Media Center is being completely revamped to better suit the needs of our students. One thing that our school needs are Chromebooks. The desktops that are currently in the Media Center are not reliable and are outdated. The students have a hard time using the computers to do group work and they are definitely tied down to one spot. If our students had Chromebooks they could work in all areas of the library. Small group work is essential in elementary school and our Media Center provides plenty of room to do small group projects. We just need to update our resources to make it more user-friendly.

The students will be able to use Chromebooks with the Google Cast app and cast their work on our smart TV when working together.

They will be able to read electronic books with headphones in our reading area. They will be able to sit in a corner and take tests on the books they have read. They will be able to go to our research area and take notes on our white boards. These are all things that the students cannot do with a normal desktop computer. Chromebooks are definitely the way to go!
