There are so many great series and authors that students should really be afforded the opportunity to read. Without exposure, many of these series fly under the radar and are never discovered. It always a disappointment when these book series are missed.
I want to run small reading groups using "Book 1" books of great series or authors to expose and motivate students to continue reading independently.
After finding which series are the most popular, I hope to return to Donors Choose and ask for those series the students wish to read.
Authors like Judy Bloom and Kate DiCamillo have written MANY great books that I hope students will want to read. Series like Hilo, Press Start, and Cat & Cat Adventures are amazing series of graphic novels. I am excited to begin this plan and watch it grow my students reading horizons.
