Small Groups and Social Emotional Learning for Success!
Help me give my students a half moon table to do their work in small groups in the classroom and sensory social emotional toys to help keep a calming learning environment.
The half moon table will allow me to have more than 1:1 conferences at a time with my students. Although I have a smaller class size and room, with this table, students will have a designated small group instruction area where they can engage in small group lessons, tasks and activities inside my classroom while still having enough comfort and space to themselves at the table. Sitting across from my students at the table during small group time will allow me to model and see their work better. Keeping a calm learning environment is my number one goal as a teacher. Sometimes the classroom and learning environment can be distracting or overwhelming for some of my students. The weighted stuffed animal and lap pad will give students that sense of comfort and calmness they need. Many of my students go to my calm corner to sit in the bean bags and relax. It's their safe space. They love the calm corner area and these two weighted additions would make it even more emotionally inviting and exciting for my students!
