My Project
We’re a little over a month into school and I’m so lucky to have an amazing group of kind and smart kiddos! That being said, it’s become evident that we are in need of a few materials to help us run our class a bit smoother and get our kids where they need to be to become strong readers and also help them handle big emotions when they arise.
Our school utilizes a fantastic literacy program that requires the use of whiteboards.
While I’ve been blessed to have whiteboards that have held up for many years, 6 year olds fly through whiteboard markers super quickly! Having a decent amount on hand as well as pencil pouches to keep them secure would help tremendously without small group instruction! My students have also taken a liking to being on our carpet during our writing sessions, and having clipboards available would increase their motivation and create an enjoyable routine for them.
In addition, with first grade comes a lot of big emotions! I have the absolute sweetest group of kids but that doesn’t mean they don’t experience sadness, frustration, anger, or even just being a little sleepy! Having a small area in our room that they can go to to calm down or take a 5 minute break would help our day go so much smoother. I would love for them to have a designated space to go to where they can take deep breaths or rest their eyes if needed.
I’m so lucky to have most of what I need, but these extra items would make such a big difference and would be greatly appreciated by both me and the kiddos! Thank you ❤️
