This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Research has repeatedly shown that when social-emotional skills are taught to children, negative behaviors decrease while academic and social achievement increases. Students who can self-regulate effectively have also shown a foundation for positive classroom behavior and success. We are currently in the process of implementing tiered social-emotional support in our school, but the process is long (and expensive!) Our last project was so successful and funded so quickly, we have enough materials and resources to implement our tier 2 and 3 small group social-emotional learning. However, we now need another table large and enough stools to accommodate our groups.

We are asking for a large activity table to accommodate 6 students and one teacher who will be working with them in their small group.

The standard kidney-shaped activity table will be the perfect size to allow students from Pre-K through 6th grade to participate and be comfortable, while allowing the teacher to best engage with the students.
