My Students
We are an integrated co-teaching classroom in the Bronx with 26 Kindergarten students, each with unique strengths and challenges.
The 26 sprouts in our classroom have begun to blossom!
You can see and hear these great minds blooming as they begin to realize those squiggles on the page are words and that they can read them!
In our classroom, we strive to create a caring and safe learning environment where all students feel confident to take risks and grow as learners. We meet the needs of our diverse population by emphasizing compassion and respect for all.
My Project
Our classroom has two teachers and many students with special needs. We need a small group easel and extra pocket charts so that each teacher can work on more individualized instruction in a separate area. These students greatly benefit from the targeted instruction we are able to provide, but we need these charts and easel to make the lessons more interactive.
We use the charts for targeted literacy lessons, focusing on poems rhymes and other phonemic awareness skills.
The easel will allow the teacher to demonstrate writing letters and numbers, as well as motivate students to participate by writing on the board as well. The tactile letters help students with varying learning styles better focus on letter formation and recognition.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
