This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our classroom is made up of many diverse learners. Many of the learners will require push-in small-group services, as well as pull-out services. The students I will be supporting are English Language Learners and students with disabilities.

Something that I know my students would benefit from is a kidney table for small group instruction in the classroom where they will be working.

When sitting at a kidney table, students can create a sense of unity and community with the teacher in the center of the table and the students spread around. The desks that we have in our classroom do not provide that when pulling my students for small groups. A kidney table also allows the teacher to have easy access to the students' work to provide help quickly and efficiently.

The table will provide students with an area where they can work, not only as a group on common language or academic goals, but also provides them a space to work independently in an area where I can easily support each of them.
