Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my class are comprised of those who are reading way below grade level. The loss of essential learning and attention during the pandemic has caused major setbacks in my students' reading abilities. I was initially teaching English Language Arts and Social Studies. However, our students required extra support and attention. As a result, an additional intervention classroom was created where I am now teaching reading enrichment.

My students are eager to interact and participate in learning activities with their peers.

They engage in discourse while tapping into each other's skill sets as another resources for learning.

My students are provided with the scaffolds (supports) necessary for them to access language, build their vocabulary, and apply strategies while they are reading. My classroom is unique as I am also working with many English language learners who benefit from my training in teaching English as a second language.

My Project

I am looking to obtain a small group table for my classroom. I am a reading enrichment teacher who works with fifth and sixth graders from the inner city. Although these students are in upper elementary school, their reading skills are that of primary elementary school students.

As an interventionist, I am expected to target instruction by working with small groups of students while focusing on every group's reading deficits.

A small group table will enable me in providing my students with the individualized attention they need to catch them up to speed. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
