Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are English Language Learners with autism in NYC. They need a lot of support in small group instruction in order to comprehend and apply what they have learned since they need more attention and hands-on activity. They require individual attention due to their disability.
My students are English Language Learners with autism.
They are eager to learn but space is limited so my room is tiny. I am trying to create a nice and clean small group instruction center for my students. They have IEPs and I need to work on an individualized plan in order for them to succeed academically.
My Project
Students will be using the table and chairs in the small group instruction center in my room. I will work with groups of two or three students to improve their reading and writing skills. They need individualized instruction in a small group so they do not get distracted and stay on learning tasks. Some of my students are early learners so they need the reusable write and wipe pockets to practice writing. They can follow my instruction since I will use the dry erase board to give them clear direction. After they are done for the day, they will organize their work in the chart organizer.
This will make a huge difference in my instruction and my students' academic progress rate.
They are learning English as a second language and they have disabilities so they really need small group instruction. I want to enhance my instruction to help the students to succeed and I would like to ask donors to support our students. They struggle to meet their needs in a tight schedule and I want to provide the best instruction when I have them.
