Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every day we get different information about the status of virtual learning in my district. One day we hear, "Schools are closed for the remainder of the school year." Other days we hear, "We will be updating you on whether schools will reopen or not this school year." My students are virtually learning, and I am posting daily lessons and assignments for students to complete.

On a daily basis, I meet with small groups for strategy groups or guided reading.

I create PowerPoints and share my screen with students. I also write on pieces of paper and hold it in front of the camera when doing word work with students.

My Project

I work daily with small groups to address the needs of both my general and special education students. I do strategy groups and guided reading.

During guided reading, I struggle to share my screen to show my students activities for word work.

I have to hold my screen in front of my camera in order to share the words or charts I have written. Having a phone holder would make it easier for me to use my phone as a document camera so students are able to see what I am writing. I would also be able to share my pages in our graphic novel writing unit during lessons.

As for writing, I have been writing in pen and the one marker I have at home that still has ink. Markers would help me make anchor charts for my reading groups.

I have also asked for other supplies to organize my at home learning space, including tape and paper clips. Working with groups can be troublesome when I have papers everywhere. I would like to organize a folder for each group in order to have all of the resources I have written out or printed in one place.

As I would like print resources to project for my students, I will quickly run out of ink and paper. I would also like to send letters to my students' homes letting them know how much I miss them. This also takes ink and paper.
