My Project

Every microphone has its own unique characteristics that can significantly enhance the sound it captures. This makes choosing the right mic a vital step toward producing high-quality recordings. Professionals, including singers and voice-over artists, quickly discover which microphones best suit their voices.

In my recording studio classroom, students have shown an inspiring enthusiasm, each bringing their unique style and passion that truly elevate their vocal dynamics and expression; a truly remarkable experience contributing to building self-confidences and strengthening trust.

Introducing the Rodes M5: an exceptional matched pair of small-diaphragm condenser microphones designed for outstanding performance in various recording settings, whether in the studio, on stage or in the field. Featuring a 1/2-inch gold-sputtered cardioid condenser capsule, the M5 offers extremely low noise and a full-frequency response, making it ideal for a wide range of acoustic instruments, choirs, or any situation where a small-diaphragm ('pencil') condenser microphone excels—either individually or in stereo setups.

Incorporating matched ‘pencil’ condenser microphones into my recording toolkit is not just beneficial; it’s essential. They closely mimic human hearing by capturing sound in stereo, which offers a richer, more immersive listening experience. Unlike single mono microphones (Rodes Nt1-a; Audio-Technica AT2020, we use daily), stereo miking allows listeners to perceive sound images that correspond to the precise locations of instruments during recording, enriching the overall sound experience.

In my studio classroom, students will venture into a world of possibilities, exploring new methods of recording sounds, instruments, and excite their most imaginative creations. The setup in my classroom photo is one that creates space without desks; breaking away from tradition. Without realizing, my students are working on their social emotional health through music exploration. They are collaborating. They are self-managing. And, they sneak into my room everyday!
