This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Obesity is a major problem in young children today. This is mostly due to poor diet and lack of exercise. I would like to make physical education fun and rewarding for my students. I want them to understand the importance of keeping a healthy life style.

My students live in the inner-city.

They come from very modest means. They spend countless hours at school and rarely venture outside their industrial neighborhood. They all qualify for free federal lunches and cannot afford basic school supplies such as pencils, paper, and books.

My Project

We currently have a set of larger hula hoop. However, they are too big for my small students. They are having a difficult time controlling the large hula hoops. I do not want them to be discourage or hate using the hula hoops. Therefor, I am requesting a class set of small hula hoops to engage my students in various cardiovascular exercises. The new smaller hula hoops will make our physical education class more fun and engaging. With the use of these materials students will be able to get their heart rates going in a fun and out of the ordinary way. In addition I am requesting Health and Nutrition box to teach my students the importance of having a healthy eating habits.

Please help my students learn the importance of maintaining a healthy and active life style.

I also want them to learn the importance of a proper nutrition and the effects it has on the human body. Your donations will allow me to foster my students love for exercise by incorporating enjoyable physical education experiences for all my students.
