Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school is currently using Second Step as our Social and Emotional curriculum. Although it works wonders with the 4-year students, we have been struggling with the curriculum with our 3-year old students. Our social worker and school psychologist introduced us to the Slumberkins curriculum in January 2024 and those clinicians have come into our class one day a week to teach a mini-lesson. My students LOVE IT! They remember the previous week's Slumberkins character names and feelings they embody each week when the clinicians comes in and I blown away by their engagement.
I want to begin collecting the Slumberkins products to build up my SEL library.
I can only image how my students will retain and apply these strategies when we are doing these lessons everyday, they are already so engaged with the lessons once a week with our clinicians.
