This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work with 18 wonderful and inquisitive Pre-Kindergarten students in a diverse school in Brooklyn, New York. The children love to learn new things every day, engage in developmentally appropriate learning activities, and follow the routine of the day, which includes nap time.
My Pre-Kindergarten students need new nap mats to rest on!
Our current nap mats have recently gotten ripped and are in dire condition. They also do not fold which makes them hard to store. My students need new, foldable mats that they can store in their cubbies so they can get the rest they need during the day.
My Project
Each day my Pre-K students have nap time. For many 4 year old children, this is an essential part of the day since it gives their minds and bodies the necessary break they need. Some children may not get the rest they need at home for a variety of reasons and really just need time to sleep. The nap time also allows a quiet time to relax for children who are past needing a nap but still need a time of quiet and calm energy.
Our current rest mats are old, torn, and do not fold so they are hard to store properly.
My students need rest mats for nap time that are in good condition and rest mats they can store in their own cubbies for easy access.
