Sleeping with Ancestors

Help me give my students a sleeping bag to help my students sleep better while out in the field for three days.

My Project

The Poplar Agriculture Classes has been working on a project, A Green Stem Grant. This grant lets me take the students to Wyoming this year. The project is to study plants and Native plant uses, learn about soil, and identify sacred sites of the Native American Tribal members of the region and also tribal sites that different tribes marked as they passed through the area. The student and I sleep out on the BLM land in Wyoming and do research for and also help to document sacred Native American sites. The backpacks and sleeping bags will be a necessary addition to our trip. The kids and I will travel over 550 miles one way to accomplish this task. This type of study will help them to develop the skills to take home and work on their Reservation. The Fort Peck Reservation is a rural location in North East Montana. I hope that with this trip the students will be able to explore other areas that their ancestors travel through and help to document the history for future generations to learn from
