My Students

My students come from a lower income, mostly Hispanic neighborhood, which is always trying to raise money for the school’s needs. The students I teach love music class, but giving them lessons without letting them try for themselves is draining and boring for them. They work best with hands-on practice, and I currently can't give them that as best as I would like to.

I teach guitar to my 8th grade, but what I really want to be able to do is teach them how individual parts of music come together in a song.

I am looking to get a bass guitar for the room for the kids to learn along with drums and guitar so that they can experience the amazing feeling of playing in a band.

My Project

With a bass guitar in the classroom, my students will have the opportunity to learn how to play more than just guitar, and even more importantly, learn how to play with other instruments that are playing different parts altogether.

I want them to have the chance to know what playing in a band feels like and help them find what they truly want to do with music, which may lead to them pursuing a career in it.

With a bass guitar in the room, the opportunity to learn more and more different things will grow day by day for them.
