This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember the first time you used technology and how it changed your prospective on learning? Can you recall the first time you were able to communicate with other via Internet or video conference? I want to enlighten and give students that opportunity.
My students live in the inner-city.
They all qualify for federal free lunches at school. They come to school not just to learn academics but also to feel safe and loved. They look up to teachers and appreciate school. They live with very little and have many struggles at such a young age. Yet, they aspire to be the best students, citizens, and friends they can be. They live in a rough environment filled with gangs and poverty.
My Project
My students would greatly benefit from having an iPad in class. An iPad can provide endless opportunities for students not only with the introduction of technology but also by providing multiple ways of learning. Not all students can learn from listening, many are visual learners, while others need a hands on approach.
I want to teach my students about the endless possibilities that technology brings. My students live about 15 miles away from the beach yet, most of them have never touched the sandy shore. I want to use the iPad along with SKYPE in the classroom to connect with other 4th graders around the country and world. I want to give my students the opportunity to learn what other 4th graders around the world do. I want to use SKYPE to take my students on a trip around the world. Using SKYPE will help my student see similarities and differences among other fourth graders around the country and world.
Please help bring this invaluable resource to our classroom.
My students have very little and having an iPad in class will open a window to the world in multiple ways. Please allow my students to make friends with other fourth grade students via SKYPE. Please allow children that rarely venture outside their neighborhood to see the world.
