My Students

My students are an amazing group of kids. They are enthusiastic about school and embrace everything we do in class. They love reading, P.E., math, and science. Our school is a Kindergarten through eighth-grade school located in rural California. It serves 450 students. Our school is surrounded by forests and mountains and has daily visitors such as geese, turkeys, and deer.

Our school has a strong academic and athletic culture.

I want to maintain our strength in these areas by continuing to provide materials to enrich my students' experiences.

My Project

I am requesting colored pencils, sketching journals, sketching pencils, erasers and field journals for my students.

We have a lovely campus that is adorned with trees, a garden, a creek and a lot of wild animals.

This school year I would like to teach my students how to make observations in the wild and document their observations in the sketchbooks and field journals. The pencils and erasers will be used to draw and outline and the colored pencils will be to add color to their pictures.

In addition to drawing what they see, students will use the field guides to write about what they observe.

Students will be making observations, doing art, and writing. This will be a year long activity, so it will be exciting to see my students' growth artistically and with their writing from the beginning of the year to the end.
