My students come to school eager to learn and many come from families that have limited resources for school supplies. They amaze me with their talent and creativity. They are excited to enter the art room and see the possibilities and opportunities that await them.
My students love to learn about new artists and experiment with new materials.
Art materials can be costly and used up quickly. I am hoping to raise funds to purchase some extra special supplies that students can use and call their own.
My Project
Sketchbooks are used by artists to record thoughts, ideas and work out problems. I want my students to create their own sketchbook and use it as a tool to take notes, sketch and develop ideas. Each class will begin with students working in their sketchbook, where they will practice techniques and develop the skills they are learning as young artists. Students will be able to refer back to these techniques as they work on their projects. Students will use the donated materials to make their own sketchbooks. Students will design the cover and bind their own sketchbook.
Each page in their book will become a record of their daily work and progress throughout the year.
At the end of the year, in addition to their completed projects, they will have a wonderful record of their work. Their sketchbook will tell the story of their year--it is my goal that they will reflect on their learning and see how
