Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are incredibly talented. They have so many artistic ideas inside their heads and need avenues to get their creativity out and on paper! My students love to learn about art and are often doodling on their notes and handouts from other classes. My students will return to school this fall excited for new things to learn and develop their artistic skills.
Art is an outlet that my students desperately need.
My students live in an area with a lot of need in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona. They are from low-income families and value the little things. Our school offers small class sizes and individual attention to students. In my art classes, students get to explore new media, practice, make mistakes, develop new skills, and also have fun!
My Project
My students need a place to practice drawing, make mistakes, develop their skills, experiment with techniques, and get their emotions out. Sketchbooks allow for a constructive means for my students to express themselves. Sketchbooks allow them to have privacy while also communicating with me through visual art.
Donations to this project will help my students stay organized as well as develop their drawing skills.
Every class at our school uses binders, so in order to align with school-wide practices my drawing class will use sketchbooks. They can use the sketchbooks for Cornell Note-taking, practice drawings, shading practice, doodles, finished drawings, and more.
More than half of students from low‑income households
