My Project
I'm an art teacher in a school building of about 300 students, grade 3-5. These students are low to moderately low socio economic level. Most of the supplies I buy for the year that the district allots is about $5.00 per student. It is very difficult to enrich learning in art with little to no materials. I have saved things over the years and have other things donated which helps tremendously. What I don't have are sketchbooks!
Every project we learn about, whether it be about an artist like Frida Kahlo or Jean Michel Basquiat, sketches and beginning drawings are involved.
These drawings are crucial to the learning process in Art. They are beginning ideas which lead to other ideas creating a mindful thought process. My students would utilize these sketchbooks everyday in class and can reference them at later dates. They would prove to be a useful creative tool.
We would be all so appreciative if this project was funded. Thank you so much for your time and generosity!
