7th grade students in my classroom thrive when they have opportunities for engaging, interactive and hands-on activities. Activities, such as drawing human body systems on a traced outline of one of their classmates. In this project, students will work together and reference the human anatomy model and posters to create their own drawings of the human body systems.
By referencing the large posters and the 3D skeletal model, students will be actively engaged in learning about the systems that work together to make up the human body.
Having realistic models that are similar to their body sizes is important as students investigate where the organs are located as well as what size would be proportionate to their bodies.
Currently our skeleton has seen better days as it is missing both arms, both legs, a cracked skull and missing teeth. Replacing this one with a fully equipped skeleton will improve the engagement and learning for this year's class and for future classes as well.
