it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 1st-grade special and general education. My classroom is always full of love, learning, and laughter! The students always love to play, learn and care for one another. They love coming to school every single day. However, with the location of the school, the students face many adverse situations every single day. Most of the students live in shelters, foster homes, and city housing projects. Some of the students come into a class upset in the mornings because they didn’t get to eat, or their clothes don’t fit, or they simply don’t have a pencil.
However, with all those adversities, these amazing students come in with loving arms, eager to take over the world with their love and knowledge.
My Project
This pandemic has shaken the entire world to its core. Have you ever thought how it has effected the children? Schools were shut down and students were forced to learn virtually from home, since March 23rd, 2020.
As a first grade teacher, I know and understand that the new school year, starting in September 2021 will not be the same.
I have to find ways in which we could social distance the children from one another.
It breaks my heart to know that the students won’t be able to sit as close to each other as they want to. They are only 6 years old!
That is why I want to make it fun! I want my students to have “fun seating”. I believe the lap desk will help them write and get organized in any part of the classroom. This will allow them to Social distance from each other. The students will enjoy sitting in their lap desk that they would not worry so much about not being close to their friends. Please help me bring these amazing seats into my first grade classroom in September 2020. We would really appreciate it!
