This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My classroom rug has begun to see better days. We have discovered small amounts of black mold on the back of it and it is no longer safe for us to have it in the classroom. Thus, I need a new rug for my students to sit on during learning!
My students love the rug as a place to read books together, work on projects together, and learn as a class.
I love this particular rug because it has colored squares that give students their own space. They each have their own square and know where they are supposed to sit. It also helps me keep the rug organized which is incredibly helpful during lessons. This rug also has a blue edge which we love to use when kids sit in a circle every morning to say good morning to each other. This size is perfect for my classroom, as it allows for every child to have a space, as well as extra spaces to accommodate students who need more space to learn. The majority of my students are second-language learners, and having the color, letter, and animal visuals help them navigate rug time. I have loved this rug, so finding its exact replacement is amazing!
