My Students

My students are my second set of kids! My students are elementary schoolers that come from an area of very high economic need in Irvington. They are curious, thoughtful, and eager learners. This is the period of time when they are learning to love school: a love that will hopefully follow them for years to come. Their passion for keeping learning despite the odds inspires me.

Being given the tools to succeed will make a huge difference!

My Project

Different students learn in very different ways. While some can thrive at traditional desks, many need alternate ways to sit and learn. These desks allow students to sit comfortably on the floor. Students will be able to sit criss cross apple sauce or with their legs straight out and still be able to have a hard surface to write on or hold their books. These desks will also revolutionize small group learning, allowing us to do different types of activities in a small circle on the carpet, rather than having to sit separately at desks.
