My Students

I have had the best class of kindergarten students this school year. They show an interest in their education, their success, and the people around them.

Every student is exceptional.

They learn in different ways and at different paces. I want my classroom to be accessible for everyone so that all my little ones can learn.

We have students from all backgrounds, with a high migrant population and severe poverty. Yet, despite these odds, my students go above and beyond the expectations I have for them in the classroom. We are reading, we are writing, and we are mathematicians in the making! Because of my students' mindsets, they can do just about anything.

My Project

Giving students options in their seating allows students with special needs to remain more focused during a lesson. I am looking for a variety of seating options for my Kindergarten students so that they do not bother others at their tables, or find ways to fidget that are distracting. Using wobble discs in chairs and stools at center tables, my students will be able to wiggle, wobble, and fidget, while remaining on task. Traditional chairs do not work for everyone, especially little ones with ADHD or Autism. Focus is critical to learning, so I want my students to be able to sit and learn and be successful.
