In our Special Education Resource Room, students come with a wide range of learning needs—and that includes how they sit, move, and stay focused. Some students need to wiggle, some need to rock, and others just need a quiet space where their bodies feel safe and supported. That’s where this project comes in.
“Sit, Sit, Don’t Throw a Fit!” is all about giving students the power to choose the seating and tools that work best for them.
With your help, we hope to provide flexible seating options (like wobble stools, floor cushions, and swivel chairs) along with fidget tools (like textured items, stress balls, and sensory stickers).
These tools will help my students:
Self-regulate emotions and energy
Stay focused during lessons
Build independence and confidence
Reduce anxiety and meltdowns
In our classroom, sitting still isn’t always the goal—being ready to learn is. When students can choose how and where they sit, they are more likely to stay engaged and feel successful.
