I have noticed that my students are very restless since we returned to school after one year of virtual learning. I love my students' energy and want to create a more comfortable and safe learning atmosphere for them. I notice that students are having a difficult time sitting in class. The alternative seating will allow the students to choose if they will sit or stand during portions of instruction to increase their ability to focus.
Some of my students are also very possessive of their belongings in their book bags.
I picked these specific standing/sitting desk because it includes a specific hook for their belongings.
My Project
These adjustable standing/ sitting desk will make a huge difference to my students' learning for two major reasons. I teach STEAM to students in grades 4-8 and currently they sit in the same sized desk and chairs. The height of these desk can be adjusted for different sized students. The height adjustment will be helpful in teaching students in different grades and also make it more comfortable for the students in the same grade.
Another reason that they will make a big difference is the students can choose if they want to sit or stand.
They can decide if they want to sit or stand for the entire class period or if they want to change positions in the middle of the class depending on the lesson or their comfort level.
