This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class of second-grade students are thoughtful and caring. Our school, situated in Providence, Rhode Island, has culturally diverse students, English Language Learners, and students with special needs. During the COVID-19 pandemic, my students are adjusting well and thriving in the midst of this new normal. This year will be a productive and memorable school year. Our school gives students many wonderful opportunities to develop their creativity, knowledge, skills, and talents. We work as a team to succeed.

We strive to create a safe and nurturing school so students are happy, proud of who they are, and feel welcomed.

My Project

With your generosity and support, my second-graders will have additional flexible seating options to make the classroom an inviting, comfortable learning space. I carefully chose seats that can be cleaned and sanitized. The fidget chair bands will allow my students to stay focused and learn while getting the movement they need to help them stay engaged. Children need to move, and flexible seats make learning fun. My students feel empowered when they are given choices, especially when they get to decide where they can sit to work for reading, writing, and math.

Students need to feel a sense of normalcy during this pandemic, and more flexible seating options will help them stay socially distant and comfortable in the classroom.

Some students like to work on the floor using a lap desk or floor cushion. More comfy floor seats and seating cushions will make a difference in helping my students choose seating options that will help them concentrate and stay focused while learning, reading, playing, collaborating, and communicating. I know my students will enjoy having new Ranger Rick magazines to read. The lap boards will be used for dry-erase reading or writing activities and center work. I feel redesigning my classroom with more flexible seating options, new school supplies, and more educational resources from Teachers Pay Teachers will make it more appealing and accommodating to the social-emotional needs of my elementary students.
