My Students

As a second grade teacher in an urban school, my students come from a variety of backgrounds. No matter what their background is, they are all a curious bunch of children who are striving to make the world a better place. We are an International Baccalaureate school that focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer in the classroom and beyond.

They like to move, they love to read, and love a lot of positive attention.

From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire them to continue on a path of academic excellence that focuses on their individual needs.

My Project

"Why fit in when you were born to stand out?" Dr. Seuss. This quote makes me think about the way my teaching and classroom arrangement has changed over the past 10 years. Flexible seating has shown me how my students can make choices that help their learning based on their individual needs. These wobble seats will give my students, who need to move while they do their work, an opportunity to wiggle without being disruptive. They are also sturdy enough to last a long time. By donating to this project you will help my students for many years to come.
