it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students range in age from 11 to 12 years old and enjoy learning new things as they try to get a grasp on mathematics in a Title I school. Over 80% of my students come from economically disadvantaged homes, and most have not been given a positive view of math.
I love seeing their faces when a new concept becomes clear to them, and they have that, "ah-ha" moment.
My job is not only to teach them math but to help them get excited about learning math. My students vary greatly in range of maturity and attention span, so meeting them on their individual levels to keep them engaged is an exciting challenge!
My Project
Throughout the pandemic nothing has been normal for my students. Even though they had been back into the classroom, they still are sitting in the desk and working on the Chromebook. This past year I have purchased a sit and stand desk for my classroom to bring out something unique and different from other classes. Many times student struggle with sitting down throughout the day. This gives the students an option to learn while standing up. It also great when used the Small Groups. As much as it seems like not a difference it works tremendous with my students in keeping them engaged and awake.
